Dear Jeremy,
I have some issues implementing your suggestion and working with the very same experiment without syncing to the latest version of PennController. No matter what I do, I get thrown an “Error: You must define the items variable”. The moment I sync to the 1.9 version everything works just fine. Any idea why this happens? I think it is worth mentioning that the farm that I am using is hosted by the Humboldt Uni servers so this might make matters even more complicated. I have checked the Inspector window to get some insight into what is going on and this is what I have found:

Hi Jeremy,
I have been trying to use the pick function in my experiment to implement breaks as well. The problem is that I am using a csv file for the experimental trials, which have already been pseudo-randomized and thus I want to avoid using the function randomize() on the javascript list variable. I tried defining some sort of dummy string function to return the input strings and leave them unchanged. However, this does not seem to work.
Is there any possibility to use pick without randomization or is it just easier to use separate csv files and just include breaks in between?Thank you!

thank you so much for your answer! I do not know exactly what I did, but the problem was fixed.
Along the process, I have encountered a new, mysterious problem: The number of intended experimental trials in the CSV file does not show up as expected in the experiment. To be more precise, there are 120 trials that I want to include in the experiment, but only 80 show up and there is no reason why the last 40 ones would not show up. Honestly, I cannot think of any reason why this would happen. I suspected it could have been the fault of the CSV, but then I tried filling it with the same sentence and condition sets 120 times and the problem persisted.I have also checked the Table from the Debugger Window and it turns out all rows are read properly into Ibex. It’s just that they do not show up in the Sequence.

AnaThank you so, so much for your answer! It was very helpful and I am so glad that there is a MouseTracker element in Ibex, since I would like to use that for my Master’s thesis. The point of the experiments that I will set up would be to get as close as possible to the visual world paradigm. In that sense, it would be beyond wonderful if there was some documentation available.
